Sam and Liam’s June wedding at Ridgeway Golf Club was colourful, emotional and full of personality. From their beautiful outdoor ceremony and romantic woodland photographs to the entertaining speeches and incredibly lively dance floor, their wedding day was a joy to capture from beginning to end.
A Summer Wedding Near Cardiff and Caerphilly
Situated between Cardiff and Caerphilly, Ridgeway Golf Club provided a wonderfully green setting for Sam and Liam’s summer celebration.
The couple chose a bright, cheerful colour palette that suited the June surroundings perfectly. Sam carried a beautiful bouquet filled with yellow, pink and blue flowers, while Liam’s yellow buttonhole added a lovely splash of colour to his smart blue suit.
Their wedding felt elegant without being overly formal. A relaxed celebration centred around their family, friends and having a genuinely brilliant time together.
Liam’s Relaxed Wedding-Morning Preparations
Liam’s morning began with his closest friends around him as they prepared for the celebrations ahead. There was plenty of laughter, conversation and help with those all-important finishing touches before it was time to leave for Ridgeway Golf Club.
His smart blue suit and cheerful yellow buttonhole worked beautifully with the colourful summer styling Sam and Liam had chosen for their wedding. Photographing these smaller details helped capture the anticipation of the morning as everything began to feel wonderfully real.
The Excitement Before the Ceremony
As the ceremony drew closer, the excitement, and a few understandable nerves began to build. Liam greeted guests before taking his place and waiting for Sam to arrive.
These moments before a wedding ceremony often pass incredibly quickly. The conversations between friends, reassuring smiles and emotional reactions all become meaningful parts of the finished gallery, helping Sam and Liam remember not only how their wedding looked, but exactly how it felt.
An Outdoor Ceremony Surrounded by Family and Friends
Sam and Liam exchanged their vows during a beautiful outdoor ceremony, surrounded by greenery and all the people closest to them. The photographs tell the full story: the anticipation before Sam’s arrival, emotional reactions during the ceremony and the delighted expressions as the newlyweds walked back down the aisle together.
There were also lots of lovely moments involving the children throughout the day. From carefully watching the ceremony to exploring the venue and joining in with the celebrations, they brought even more energy and character to the photographs. These natural moments are often the ones that become the most meaningful because they show what the day genuinely felt like.
Colourful Details and a Wonderful Wedding Cake
The joyful colour continued into the reception. One of the most memorable details was Sam and Liam’s incredible yellow wedding cake, decorated with delicate flowers and personal finishing touches. I always make time to photograph the smaller details couples have spent months choosing. The flowers, rings, cake and room decorations all form part of the story and help bring back the atmosphere of the day for years to come.
Relaxed Family and Group Photographs
Group photographs certainly didn’t need to feel stiff at this wedding! Alongside the important family combinations, there were plenty of playful photographs with the wedding party. Everyone embraced the fun, resulting in photographs filled with movement, laughter and personality. My approach is to organise group photographs efficiently while keeping the atmosphere relaxed. Once the essential photographs are captured, there is always room for something a little less traditional.
Woodland Wedding Portraits at Ridgeway Golf Club
The surrounding trees and greenery gave us a beautiful setting for Sam and Liam’s newlywed portraits. We stepped away from the reception for a relaxed walk together, giving them a chance to enjoy a few quieter moments as a newly married couple. Rather than relying on stiff poses, I used gentle direction and allowed their natural connection to lead the photographs. Sam’s lace dress and flowing veil looked especially beautiful against the woodland backdrop. The resulting portraits feel romantic and timeless while still looking completely like them.
Speeches Filled With Laughter
The speeches produced some fantastic reactions. There was laughter throughout the room, a few emotional moments and plenty of brilliant expressions for me to capture. During speeches, I don’t concentrate solely on the person holding the microphone. I also watch the couple, their families and the guests because their reactions are an important part of the story.
Those fleeting looks, bursts of laughter and affectionate glances are often among my favourite photographs from a wedding day.
A First Dance and a Packed Dance Floor
After the formalities came the party and everyone was ready for it. Sam and Liam began the evening with their first dance before friends and family joined them on the dance floor. Twirls, hugs, laughter and some enthusiastic dance moves followed, creating a wonderfully energetic end to the gallery. The photographs become increasingly lively as the evening unfolds, capturing the celebration exactly as it happened. It was the perfect ending to a wedding filled with warmth, colour and fun.
